Treatment-Resistant Conditions

Too often, patients do not find relief from their symptoms even after trying multiple different treatments. This is known as treatment resistance (or sometimes called treatment refractory). In many cases, this is not because appropriate treatments don't exist, but because doctors have a hard time predicting which treatment combination will help which patient. This can leave you feeling discouraged and even hopeless.

The good news is that in recent years, neuroscience research has exploded in its understanding of how the brain contributes to mental illness, which has given us more understanding of why many patients don't respond well to treatment. Additionally, advances in brain imaging, neurotechnology, and drug development are beginning to offer additional treatment choices.

FUNCTIONAL BRAIN IMAGING

For patients who qualify, we offer a more in-depth assessment that allows us to better understand the underlying causes of your symptoms. We have specialized training in functional brain imaging (e.g., SPECT) that allows us to look at your brain's activity patterns. When this information is coupled with an understanding of modern neuroscience research and molecular medicine, it offers important additional information that helps us to more precisely target your symptoms.

Please note that this is a specialized service for patients who qualify and may require out of state travel. If you are interested , please click the link below to learn more about pricing and other details.
